NINETIES

"If you've never jumped from one couch to the other
to avoid the lava, you've never had a childhood."

So many beautiful memories rest in the 90's, bringing back moments of simplicity and joy. How sad it is that kids these days are stuck inside with screens glaring into their eyeballs. Days of playing princesses roaming the gardens certainly bring back some sweet memories (though I really have polar personalities even as a child because I was also that tomboy who threw live snails onto bitumen with my brothers). And who better to share these reminiscent moments with than my childhood babe Jiaxin from The Food Enthusiast. You may recognise her from one of my previous articles: Brunch Babe. We recently caught up with one another again and thought why not take advantage of our time together: another photo-shoot moment it is!

Showcasing that 90's vibe, we went down the denim road which perfectly blended with the harsh wooden texture of The Roasting Warehouse Fremantle. This was a beautiful little lunch spot for our catch up to which a lot has managed to change within the short few months.

Boys come and go but friends usually stay more consistent. Remember when I talked about change, and the fact that in 5 years usually you are around a completely different group of people? And remember how I also mentioned that there are people who come and go, but some who stay and also some who come back? Well Jiaxin is one such example of someone who came back into my life. Having known her since pre-primary and her moving away before we even hit second grade, somehow... somehow we reached back out to each other during university and now we're close again.

And we've both changed, for the worse and for the better. Yet in some magical way, we still click. I guess this is the true meaning of being soul-sisters. We have withstood the test of time, and no matter what happens I know we will easily find our way back to each other every time. Reflect on your life, who are the magical beings you find yourself going back to no matter where you are in life?

Meanwhile, enjoy these photos of us stuffing our faces with aesthetically pleasing yet disappointingly average food (I'm no foodie but they ran out of slider buns so it came in a burger... is that not a food sin?) like a flip book. Yes, another one of those childhood memories, drawing immature cartoons on several pages of paper so that when you flip those pages it's a cartoon coming to life. And here we are, slow moving shots of us devouring our food shamelessly.

  7. Fantastic post! I totally understand what you are talking about because I remember the 90-s and also miss the time I had then, having no phones or Internet. And so great to reconnect with old friends too!
