Nothing that comes easy lasts. Short cuts and fast money are all just temporary illusions, your own temporary Wonderland. Very soon they just disappear. Take your time with progressing things you want to keep in your life. I do wonder however, our society values pursuing our dreams so much, is it just setting us up for disappointment? Yet there's the saying: 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained' remember? And I do worry sometimes, what will happen if I never find something I am passionate about that I can wake up to every Monday morning? How many Monday mornings do I have to wake up to not working for something I truly believe in before I give up hope?

As the time ticks, and venturing out into the workforce draws nearer, needing to make up your mind about what you want to pursue becomes the big decision. Everyone wants to be successful, but what is success? Success is happiness, success is satisfaction. And success in life can be broken down into two areas: Career and Love. Success is waking up on a Monday morning to a career and loved ones you are grateful to have, that fills you with purpose and content.

I don't think I ever will be a settler. I could never settle for anything less than something that makes my Monday mornings feel like weekends. Because we spend most of our life working, and if we don't enjoy the work we do, we aren't living. Before you know it you're on your death bed wishing you did more. Same goes with choosing a life partner, you don't want to be spending every mundane morning with someone very average. Look at marriage and "see that it's not out of anything poetic, but out of 20,000 mundane Wednesdays. Marriage isn't the honeymoon in Thailand - it's day four of vacation #56 that you take together. Marriage is not celebrating the closing of the deal on the first house - it's having dinner in that house for the 4,386th time." 

According to Modern Family there are two types of people in this world, the dreamers and the realists. I am both. I dream of success but I am also aware of the realities. Not everyone achieves their dream job, not everyone has a successful marriage. The dreamer in me believes it is still possible. Just hope for the best but expect the worst.
