THE AUSTRALIAN STORY

"Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns
in order to look at things in a different way."
- Edward de Bono

There are some peculiar misconceptions that people have of the isolated land down under. "Do you ride on kangaroos to school?", "I've heard there are Drop Bears by the name of Koalas that eat your brains out!", "Do you celebrate Christmas?", "Are there supermarkets there?". Some are pretty nonsensical but these misconceptions are, or hopefully are, outdated as Globalisation moves Australia out of isolation.

However to be fair, some beliefs do have their grounds. We don't ride Kangaroos to school but we do see them in our suburban streets. My friend has opened her front doors and seen two kangaroos standing on her lawn like perfect statues. And no, she doesn't live in the outback. But sometimes the suburban areas can feel like the Great Outback with a little help of some creative positioning, like these photos for example, a simple two minute walking distance from my home. And no, I don't live in the outback either.

Funny story, me trying to get out of my comfort zone by taking photos in public. That really amazing location a few minutes from my house, one that looks abandoned, made me realise 'looks deceive'. A realisation that came a little too late. Someone was home. Probably some poor man peeking out of their window weirded out by my antics. Thank god it didn't end up with me getting arrested for tresspassing. Funny times. But not the Australian Story intended to be told here.

Australia is a beautiful country, anyone lucky enough to have visited would be able to tell you it definitely is the laid back lifestyle that people make us out to have. Growing up and living in a relatively small Australian city means I see more of what the world labels as 'Australian'. The drinking, the bare feet, and the daily encounters with very unsophisticated people. But there is the love for the the amazing beaches and great wildlife. For those things, you must definitely visit and experience.

And despite being from a small city of a geographically isolated country, success is not limited. New York is the city of dreams but dreams come true for those from Perth too. You are not defined by where you begin. You are only defined by how far you want to go. It shouldn't amaze me, but it does, that Perth has produced some pretty big names: Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, Sam Worthington, Gemma Ward, Nicole Trunfio, and Adelaide Kane, just to name a few. The only boundaries that you have are the ones created by yourself. In this big world of big possibilities, you are not bound to anything. You want something strongly enough? Then you can make it happen.
