BLANK SPACE

  "Make it simple, but significant."
- Don Draper

It is indeed a rare occasion that for once my over-thinking mind was a portrait of blank space. I had not a single vision to write about, no burning knowledge to enlighten nor empower you with in hopes that you leave this page inspired. I guess it is to my own comfort that for once my congested mind is not a complete chaotic mess, but an empty slate of nothingness. In saying that, ironically I came to some epiphany for this article: Simplicity.

Simple looks, simple photography, and we arrive to a simple mind. Let this be a chance for me to enlighten you about nothing more egotistical than myself. However, my hopes in sharing this is that you are able to draw some kind of magical inspiration amongst it all. You see, in life, not everything is put on a silver platter for you to indulge in. You can learn from everything and everyone, but first of all, you need to be knowledge thirsty, like a vampire craving thick hot blood.

'First thing's first, I'm the realest'. Okay, première fact about me is I do not possess, in any possible way,  a simple mind. I think, over-think, and think again. I guess that's why I feel sorry you're actually reading this, because everything that I spew on here is mind-vomit. A flaw of  mine in many ways; it's hard to understand me when neither I understand myself sometimes. But somehow, miraculously, people find it interesting and inspiring. What can I say, I try? I don't simply have a 'passion for fashion', nor am I defined entirely by my love for photography, but there is an unnoticed crucial aspect to me and that is my strong desire for writing. What other way is there to ease the troubled mind than to type up a 100,000 word novel during my quietest days, sorry 104,680 words to be exact. Writing is my mental outlet. I don't blog to be complimented, I blog to survive. Please, this was never just about pretty photos and clothes.

Secondaire fact about me would lie in the very fabric of my style, sorry pun intended, which is rather simple. My attire consists of simple clothes; most of the reason lies in the fact that I fail to think creatively in the early mornings of the day, much preferring sleep over clouded visions of my wardrobe. Another more substantial reason would be that I've never connected with the idea of adorning myself in 'fashionista' clothing, expressing oneself with bright clashing patterns and otherworldly prints.

I'm a girl who likes to keep it simple, a cohesive colour palette with figure complimenting composition (so don't expect to see me layering on thousands of shirts and coats during the abominable cold winters, like an abominable snowman).

Thirdly, simple living. I enjoy photography for that very fact. Through the lens I am able to see a world for all its beauty, in the smallest of details in the most wondrous way. In my philosophical pursuits, trying to attain the meaning of my life, or life in general, I remain faithful to the truth that material goods are toxic despite falling victim to the very pursuit in many times and ways. However I do manage to escape it in moments when I am wandering around with my camera. It keeps me grounded, I am able to reflect on life and its higher purpose, away from materialistic gains and sinful desires. And in the moment I look through that lense, I am far away, my over-thinking mind a rare blank space.

  3. I absolutely adore what you wrote here and back it 100%. I live in the tropics and that reflects a lot of my lifestyle--simple. I dress simply because it's practical and I live simply and cruelty free because it's what I enjoy. Also, totally love the mind vomit. If this is what you write then by all means mind vomit again. Also, writing (fiction and blogging) has been one of the best methods of therapy I've ever discovered.

P.S Did you take these photos yourself? They're amazing!
